CANDZ THOMSON

We fly to beauty as an asylum
From the terrors of finite nature.
~Emerson, Journals, 1836

PIM: Hi Candz Before we get into the modelling bit. Tell us more bout yourself. , PIM is led to believe that you are from Durban. How did you get attracted to the glamour of modelling and the industry?
Candz: And you are correct PIM, I am from Durban. I am totally insane, complicated and underestimated. . *Laugh aloud* I guess what attracted me to this industry was curiosity really. A friend of mine told me to enter a competition in the Zoo Magazine, obviously being self conscious, I needed the push - I was rather hesitant but when I saw myself in the magazine for the first time, it was a sense of achievement and it sort of just stuck.

Wow. PIM is honoured to have you? Your ambitions and goals as a model?
Well my dreams of going International is happening sooner rather than later… I will be appearing in a Aussie Magazine sometime this year.. My goal as a person is to Inspire other ladies (and men) that size” 0” is right and you can be a model regardless on how you look and what you weigh.

Whats a typical day in the life of Candice Thomson (a.k.a Candz Thomson)?
I live my life for others and do everything for everyone, so you need to be more specific. . teehee :)

How do you stay in shape Candz? Any tips for our readers?
I am lazy when it comes to going to the gym (had a gym contract), my interests include hiking, golf, playing paintball, pole dancing and anything really, whatever gets me out and about and active – I can not be indoors doing nothing – I tend to get cabin fever. If I can give tips: It will be drink lots of water and don’t sleep with makeup on!!

If you had to make any food or desert or junk food the caloric value of lettuce. Which would it be?
Oooh… I cant choose. . . I love food regardless. . I would say all the food you not suppose to eat . . *Laughing out loud*

So what do you do for a living Candz? How do you pay the bills?
 I am a Marketing Executive/Part Time Model. .

If you had to have KIDNAP any sportsman/ celeb, who wud that be ha ha?
Aah.. Does it have to be one person? Aah ok, I would have to say…. It is a toss up between John Cena and Batista

Your dream shoot…Pick a location, a theme.
I like bubbles, flowers and lots of wine . . . hmmm . . . just given me an idea. Thanks PIM!

Oh and what would you regard as the sexiest part of your body and a guys?
My eyes are my personal favourite . . . for a man I would have to say his back and chest!

What was the most bizarre and funny come on line that a guy has used on You?
I was dancing with my girlfriends one night at a club and a group of men were staring at us, this one guy approached my girlfriends and I (which is very brave dude) and randomly asked me. ”Aren’t you the Durban Zoo Girl. . .” I had nowhere to hide my face and my night was rather awkward with a group of men watching my girlfriends and I dancing

2010..in SA...UR THOUGHTS..How do you think we will handle it? What is happening in Durbz. Is the City of Durban bracing itself. Hows the 2010 Euphoria that side?
Wrong person to ask regarding to this topic... I personally think it’s a waste of time and money… and crime will go up afterwards, if not more… but everyone says I am being a pessimist but its my opinion – it will probably will be a good thing, but I am rather sceptical about it… So we shall wait and see!!

Tell us about one talent that you have that we never able to guess?
I can play Bass Guitar and the Drums…does singing in the shower count?!?!

Whats ur favourite fashion brand: I am not one for name brands.. I believe its “YOU” that makes you unique and stand out from the crowd… Its all about attitude really and how you present yourself….not the clothing you wear!!
If you had a million rand, What would be your first purchase: I would pay all my debt off … Then buy a ticket for my family and I to go to Disney Land for 3 weeks (I am working on that already)
Favourite food? SUSHI SUSHI, SUSHI…
Favourite Hot drink? Cappuccino with Cream
Favourite Cold drink: Amarula neat or on the rocks
Favorite perfume on a guy? HUGO BOSS - ELEMENTS
Favourite Perfume on you: Pleasures - Exotic
Favorite clubbing and Hangout? I am no longer into the clubbing scene… Fav. Hangout will be at a friends place braain and sipping on cocktails!!

Favourite restaurant? I would have to say Cape Town Fish Market/Simply Fish
One wish you would like to come true: - - - BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!

Would you say a woman can learn how to be a model, or modeling is something in the genes? you have it or you don't have it at all? Why do you think so? Is the modelling industry that cut throat as people make it out to?
There is this “stigma” about been a model and that is if you take your clothes off you post them on networking site you a Model. Unfortuantly for some people like that there is a name and that name is a Schmodel (google it). Modeling is not something that has to be in the genes; you have it in you to be a model or you do not have it- no two ways about it. This industry is cut throat, this world is full of beautiful people, and very nasty evil people too – should think carefully before entering this world.

If you could be anyone famous in the World today, Who would you want to be and Why?
No one … God made me to be myself and not someone else for a reason…

Are you single? Whilst we on the topic. How important is a guys - dress sense to you.? So PIM can spruce up and impress someone like you? Whats your ideal man.

I am a very high maintance woman.. Who easily can be one of the boys when needs be – I love a man in jeans though- If you can intrigue me mentally, smell great, Independent and is taller than I – we will meet for a second date!!
He needs to be emotionally strong, Intrigue me mentally and be

If PIM had to take Candz on a date. What would we have to do to blow your socks off lol?
I get bored easily, so you have to be able to hold a conversation, be positive, be independent, not easily influenced, romantic, well groomed and presentable -morals and manners count too…etc etc – LIST GOES ON - In addition, taking me to Teazers for our first date is so wrong! (That has happened, *laughing out loud*.. needless to say never saw him again after that)

Can you mention some of your modelling accolades and achievements thus far?
Fitness Magazine for USN Model Search.
Real South African Hotties -Winner of March (Miss March 2008)
Featured in SA ZOO Weekly Magazine and Website

Lastly what is the perception of modelling in JHB as opposed to Durbz. Would you leave the coast in a flash to come our side or Is there alot of scope in Durban ?
There is a lot of Talent in Durban, do not get me wrong… but the Industry here is not all that great!! Johannesburg is the place to be- and me being aggressive and competitive by nature. Johannesburg has it all!! If it was for a opportunity to go further in the Industry and I knew it would benefit me in the long run, I would Leave Durban to go to Johannesburg .. But will always be a Durbanite!!

Good luck - Candz. A pleasure to have you on PIM. Best of luck with the Modeling career and look forward to seeing you in more advertisements......

CHRISTINE BADENHORST

A thing of beauty is a joy forever;
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness.
~ ~John Keats

PIM: Christine, Glad to have you on PIM. PIM met you briefly at the FHM party at centurian. You have made TOP 10 for FHM Models? Was a tough draw. Were you excited when you got the news? Tell us about the top 10 experience thus far?

Tough world, wear a helmet! ;) I jumped up a down when I received the phone call from FHM… My Mother was with me and we were ecstatic! Very grateful!Experience thus far…so far so good… Had our 1st photo shoot and now we are waiting for the big announcement – zee Winner is…?
PIM: How do you fancy your chances. Wt have you been doing so far to get them Votes. Why should people vote for Chrsitene?
christine: My chances…hm’…pretty good! Aah, only kiddin’ all the girls are smoking hot so all I can do is pray for the folks out there to send those votes my way, hope they fancy me more, is all I can say! I made flyers to get votes, went to hand them out at Menlyn mall. I made t-shirts with “Vote for Me” printed on, and I am putting up posters this week to get them votes flying my way.
PIM: What would you do if you win FHM Models. How important is it to your quests as a model? You are from Pretoria. Do you have a beeeg PRETORIA BACKING coming into the TOP 10 lol christine: ;)) Smile from ear to ear! It’s a doorway to endless possibilities! The exposure I will get… and it will definitely boost my acting career! I am going to ask TUKS FM if they’ll support me by doing a little interview with me! Getting all the folks from pretty Pretoria to back me!.
PIM: Speaking of which.Whats a typical day in the life of Christine badenhorst?
christine: Taking every day as a blessing! Going to my yoga class with Master G in the mornings, having a healthy breakfast and doing whatever is planned for the day… Usually I have a photo shoot planned, or a casting in Jozi. I make time for reading, chatting on the internet with friends and horseback riding. Happy days!!!
P.I.M: How do you approach these shoots(fhm top 10) surrounded by a bevy of beauties and the self Realisation that HEY IM TOP TEN and I COULD BE THE FHM home grown Honey for 2009?What a prestigeous title?PIM is proud.
christine:O’ yes PIM, bevy beauties indeed! I guess I don’t allow myself to be intimidated by anyone. I will wear the crown with glorious pride!
P.I.M: Has shooting for this comp been any different.I mean it was an awesome field and you emerged TOP 10.?What do you guys do now. More Pics.ANY special events you guys lining up or shooting for?
christine: The shoot was a bit more daring than the stuff I am used to. It was definitely steamier than some of my previous shoots. It is an experience and a half, pure awesomeness! We have to promote ourselves and get as many votes possible, and speaking of events PIM, you’re invited to come and have a Valentine’s evening with us, the Top 10 girls on the 13th Feb! Should be fun! Party like its 1999! See you there.
PIM: If you had to have KIDNAP any sportsman/celeb, who would that be ha ha?
christine: I’d go for soccer player Ronaldo – Manchester United / Portugal (better have trained body guards during 2010). A SA celebrity, who else but Ryk Neethling! Purely deliciousness.
PIM: Your dream shoot…Pick a location, a theme ?
christine: Italy, on a hot summer’s day. Italian men staring, while I pose in an unbuttoned white dress, dancing under a fountain in the middle of a village… Or Mexico, a hot, sweaty, gorgeous shoot..Or a shoot on a horse range somewhere. I'll wear a sexy Sheena outfit with cowboy boots and a stunning black stallion by my side! ;)
PIM: Oh and what would you regard as the sexiest part of your body and a guys? :) PIM loves what we see.
christine: Tx PIM! :) My legs and I'll also give it up for my precious puppies!! Hey pretty girls!
PIM: What was the most bizarre and funny come on line that a guy has used on You?
christine:Guys that I have come to know are over all very sweet and respectful, but you do get the once now and then dude with all head and no brains ;) I have a good pick up line for you though… “Are you wearing space pants? Because your ass is out of this world”.
PIM: 2010..in SA...UR THOUGHTS..How do you think we will handle it, ?
christine: I have great trust and faith in our country’s ability to handle the 2010 honorably and with great respect! I am proud of our country for coming this far. South-Africa has come a long way and it is time to show the world that we are united as one and that we are like any other 1st world country capable of hosting the World cup magnificently! … O, and em, I am surely capable of showing Ronaldo a good scenic tour around the neighborhood… ;)
PIM: Tell us about one talent that you have those we never able to guess?
christine: I can focus both eyes to the center of my face…and then focus one in the middle while the other is looking straight ahead…hm’…no for real.. I can draw, well I think I can. All my brothers are great artists. My Uncle François is a well-known SA artist, along with my cousin Robert, AKA: Bobby who is a really gifted painter. He struggles to keep up with all the orders coming from SA citizens and overseas clientele. I am a proud family member.
Wat's your favourite fashion brand: Sissy Boy.
If you had a million rand, what would be your first purchase? House.
Favorite Food and Drink: Seafood & Dry red wine.Favorite perfume on a guy: Lacoste
Favorite perfume on you: don’t have one at the moment…wish I had but don’t have one at the present moment.
Favorite clubbing and Hangout? My place and for now Ftv - Sandton.
PIM: Tell us of some of the highs of your career.Any major shoots or magazines you’ve featured in?christine:My career only started picking up recently. I have featured in a few local magazines like “Locally Whipped” had a full frontal interview with them and the magazine ‘Pix”. I am on Modelbase, where you can meet good freelance photographers, always eager to do a shoot with you. I was in a music video and did an international add for Vodaphone last year. I was in the reality show Model Millions, where I was one of the final top 12 finalists, unfortunately the main sponsor from the US pulled out and the show got cancelled. I have done a few photo shoots with a couple of renowned photographers thus far, and hope to do lots more. Climb the ladder all the way to the top!!
PIM: If you could be anyone famous in the World today, Who would you want to be and Why?christine:Hmmm… Tough one.. Me in a couple of years time! Heidi Klum has it quite good, being a top model, being a great host for a tv. show…livin’ The lavida loca! ;) Or will I go with Oprah, all that money…hmmm…
PIM:Are you single? Whilst we on the topic. How important is a guys dress sense to you.? So PIM can spruce up and impress someone like you Whats your ideal man.
christine: Confidence is key! A good smile will get you everywhere! ;)) I am in a relationship, yes. Happy days! A good sense of style sums the man up. Shoes, is a ticket to a good night out. Always wear a good pair of shoes boys! Always Be thy self! For You are the Chosen One ;)) Yeah!
PIM: If PIM had to take Christine on a date. What would we have to do to blow your socks off lol?christine: Have a fun time planned! Be romantic, sensual and tasteful. Know what you’re doing, have the whole night planned… boys, relax, it’s not that hard! For be thy self. Fly me to the Alps for skiing, booking into a cabin in the middle of nowhere. A romantic evening planned with good food and Spanish music playing in the background. Afterwards relaxing on a thick furry white carpet in front of a blazing fire … hmmm.Or, doing anything fun and tasteful here in our home country, I am practically game for anything.

SUMONE HEROLDT

She walks in beauty,
Like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes
~Lord Byron ~

PIM: Sumone, Glad to have you on PIM. You have made TOP 10 for FHM Models? Was a tough draw. Were you excited when you got the news? Tell us about the top 10 experience thus far?
sumone: Thanks for having me.
Oh my goodness, I was so surprised when I got the news, I thought my legs were going to buckle, ha ha, it was very overwhelming.
The top 10 experience has been an amazing so far, random people walk up to one and they know exactly who you are. That was a bit getting use to at the beginning.
Top 10 shoot was so much fun, the whole FHM crew treated us with so much patience, care and they’ re such a cool group of people. The rest of the TOP 10 are such a nice group of girls, we all got along famously and shared lots of laughs and giggles.

PIM: How do you fancy your chances. What have you been doing so far to get them Votes. Why should people vote for you?
sumone: Im very happy with being in the Top 10, I don’t stress that much on gaining votes. I’ll put the FHM link on my FaceBook status, but im not going all “campaign”with the whole competition. I see it as a fun experience, where I got to meet new people and learn new things.
PIM:Sumone if you were not in the TOP 10.Pick ur winner?
sumone: Well, each of girls are so beautiful and unique in their own way, that it would be impossible to single out just one winner.
PIM: Speaking of which.Whats a typical day in the life of Sumone Heroldt
sumone: Unfortunately its not all glitz and glamour. Im still studying and for the moment doing modelling part time, till I have my degree. So right now, its getting up in the morning, having breakfast, running back and forth to classes, grabbing a bite with some friends at the Neelsie, then back to class, driving to Cape Town for castings or shoots. Back to Stellenbosch, making some supper with my flatmates and then if I still have the energy meet with friends at NuBar or Bohemia. It’s a very busy and fast lifestyle, sometimes I have to take a few days off, just to recharge myself.
P.I.M: How do you approach these shoots(fhm top 10) surrounded by a bevy of beauties and the self Realisation that HEY IM TOP TEN and I COULD BE THE FHM model 2009?What a prestigious title?PIM is proud.
sumone: im a very blaze person, I don’t get all fierce and jaguar like(scratching eyes out, etc, mewoooo)
When I arrived at the shoot I started chatting to the girls, got to know them and had an awesome time. All of us got along great and shared our random new year’s stories, and oh yes, did we all have something to tell, ha ha. But hey, it’s all girl talk, so I cannot go into any detail.
P.I.M: Has shooting for this comp been any different.I mean it was an awesome field and you emerged TOP 10.?What do you guys do now. More Pics.ANY special events you guys lining up or shooting for?
sumone: The FHM shoot was actually fun, for the first time it felt like the photographer was focussing on the model, capturing her not the brand she was wearing, which was a really nice feeling.
For the time being its waiting for the FHM March edition to launch end of January. I am going about my castings and shoots as usual. Its season in Cape Town and lots of international clients come shoot here.
PIM: If you had to have KIDNAP any sportsman/celeb, who would that be ha ha?
sumone: he he he... oooh, I would definitely try to kidnap Ryk Neetling or David Beckham. Seeing that Victoria Beckham has David under lock and key, I think I would be more successful in the kidnapping of Ryk.
PIM: Your dream shoot…Pick a location, a theme ?
Sumone: My ultimate shoot would be a campaign for Guess. The hair, the makeup, uniqueness of every shot taken..my my..i particularly like the dessert campaign of 2004/5. It was shot in the middle of nowhere, dessert everywhere. I thought it was spectacular!!! That would be the ultimate shoot.
PIM: Oh and what would you regard as the sexiest part of your body and a guys? :) PIM loves your eyes too.
sumone: oh my, thanks, blink blink , just kidding. i have a tiny beauty spot under my eye, which I like. (Im blushing right now) and on a guy, man oh man, a gorgeous smile can affect the stability of my legs any day.
PIM: What was the most bizarre and funny come on line that a guy has used on You?
sumone: hahaha, im laughing just thinking about it. Claire, one of my best friends, and myself were walking into a club in Stellenbosch. The next thing this incredibly tall guy came running up to me, first I thought I have to run away because he’s going to run me over. Then the next thing he started screaming, “RENNIE RENNIE, I need a RENNIE.”he threw himself almost in my arms and said, “cause my heart is burning for you”
Till this day, I think it was the one of the funniest things ive ever experienced
PIM: 2010..in SA...UR THOUGHTS..How do you think we will handle it, ?Hows things shaping up in Cape Town
sumone: Well foreign investment in 2010 has proven to be an indication of foreign optimism. Im very confident that it would be a huge financial injection for our currency, We will be able to proof to the world that South Africa is a country with lots of potential and not just another “third world country”. The Green point Stadium is progressing rapidly and on time, the Cape Town crowd is very positive and cannot wait for the Soccer World Cup 2010.
PIM: Tell us about one talent that you have that we never able to guess?
sumone: I make and design most of my clothes, like cocktail dresses, etc.
Wat’s your favourite fashion brand: No brand in particular, its more about creating a stylish, comfortable yet approachable style. I like to mix and match. Like an old vintage article with something british, for example
If you had a million rand, What would be your first purchase? I would buy my boyfriend a car, ha ha, I think his Vespa is adorable, but hey @ 45km/h its not funny anymore. Its not the whole promise of wind in my hair, not even a breeze.
Favorite Food and Drink: Food, I like my mom’s home cooked meals best, after all the sushi, pizza and chips, my mom still knows the best methods of cooking food.
Im Pino Colada girl, yum yum,
Favorite perfume on a guy: Issey Miachi
Favorite perfume on you: also Issey M, but it depends on night or day. Issey for evening and then im still a Tommy Girl fan during the day.
Favorite clubbing and Hangout? I love NuBar in Stellenbosch and Bambu in Cape Town when I want to get all dolled up and dance till the sun rises, but otherwise I like going to Clifton 2nd.
Sit around the bonfires and swing my fire poi. There’s nothing like good company, the softness the waves make late at night and the pitter patter of the bongo’s.
PIM: Tell us of some of the highs of your career. Any major shoots or magazines you have featured in
sumone: He he, I actually never talk about these things, but seeing that you ask.
My biggest contracts that I have done international would be
L’Oreal Pure Zone, Nivea, Mc Donalds(World Wide) and Johnsons and Johnsons (World Wide).
Also getting my first cover for Mizz Magazine, was one of the highlights of my career
.

PIM: If you could be anyone famous in the World today, Who would you want to be and Why?
sumone: I have no desire to be anyone famous, I think it’s a very uncomfortable lifestyle with everyone lurking over your shoulder, always waiting for you to mess up and then throw it in your face.
PIM: Are you single? Whilst we on the topic. How important is a guys dress sense to you.? So PIM can spruce up and impress someone like you Whats your ideal man.
sumone: Sorry, but this girl is whipped, he he.
Dress sense on the first impression is wee bit important, but once I start talking to someone, I don’t care about that. Nice conversation, a good sense of humour, intelligence and respect would be the thing that tickles my fancy. And yeah, if he’s got a broad pearly white smile, im very likely to melt.
PIM: If PIM had to take Sumone on a date. What would we have to do to blow your socks off lol?
sumone: im not the hopeless romantic type of girl and material things like a fast car doesn’t impress me. I like being busy and having fun,
Take me snorkeling, paragliding or kayaking, and afterwards we grab a bite at a little café next to the road, ill be way more impressed, than with a fancy restaurant.
PIM: Good luck Sumone. A pleasure to have you on PIM. Best of luck with the Modelling and FHM Models 2009. We’ll get the votes coming your way...
Please vote for Sumone in FHM MODELS 2009
